Hard rime is a white ice that forms when the water droplets in fog freeze to the outer surfaces of objects. It is often seen on trees atop mountains and ridges in winter, when low-hanging clouds cause freezing fog. Soft rime is less dense than hard rime and is milky and crystalline, like sugar.
Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain 1518.6 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie, peak temperatures perennial than the urban areas 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. Every year from late November to early March the following year, Tianmen Mountain is the best time to watch the fog.
